Senator Godswill Obong Akpabio was born on the 9th of December, 1962 to the great family of Chief Obot Akpabio of Ukana, Ikot Ntuen in the Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom State. A lawyer and politician – He was a Classroom Teacher, State Legislator, Commissioner, Governor, Senator, Minister and Currently the President of the Nigerian 10th Senate.
“The Senate President attended Methodist Primary School, the Prestigious Federal Government College Port Harcourt and the University of Calabar, where he obtained a Degree in Law. While at the Federal Government College, he was appointed the General Senior Prefect, he was also appointed the Speaker of the Student Parliament – all this is due to his Charisma. He is of the Catholic Faith.
In 2002, Senator Godswill Obong Akpabio was appointed the Honourable Commissioner of Petroleum and Natural Resources in Akwa-Ibom State. He was Elected Governor of Akwa-Ibom State in 2007 and was reelected for a second term in 2011. In 2015, Senator Godswill Obong Akpabio was elected a Senator to represent Akwa-Ibom North/West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District in the Nigeria Senate, and become the Senate Minority Leader.
