Press Release: Disregard Purported Letter Emanated From The Office Of The Chief Justice Directing The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal Panel 111 Sitting In Asaba To Transfer The Case Between Prince Collins Eselemo Vs Hon Nicholas Mutual To Panel 11

I wish to state categorically that the letter from the office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria directing the National Assembly election petition tribunal panel III sitting in Asaba Delta state to transfer the case between Prince Collins Eselemo V Hon. Mutu Nicholas to panel II, is fake & at best falsified.

The letter never emanated from the office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

“Those circulating such falsehood should desist from doing so as the office of Hon. Mutu Nicholas will not hesitate to press for the prosecution of anybody found spreading such fake news. I wish to equally state that the said petition has since been dismissed by the election petition tribunal sitting in Asaba. Let it be on record that the 180 days stipulated by the 1999 Constitution as amended for the determination of the said petition has since expired and as such the election petition tribunal no longer have the jurisdiction to hear the matter. There is also no room for extension of time.

The petitioner haven lost in the election petition tribunal, then appealed against the judgment of the tribunal and personally facilitated the transmission of the records of appeal from the election petition tribunal to the court of appeal Benin division and the matter was equally dismissed by the court of appeal. These facts are there in both courts for the general public to verify.

“I urge all our teaming supporters to disregard the letter making the rounds as same is fake and only meant to deceive & mislead the public.

Signed:

Ogbomah Ebitimi Esq.
Media Aide to Hon. Mutu Nicholas
