IYC President, Oweilaemi Bags Award Of Excellence, Peace Advocacy

Port Harcourt: The President of most revered youth organization in Africa, Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Barrister Pereotubo Oweilaemi last night was given an award of excellence, advocacy for the emancipation and development of the Niger Delta Region by the comedy club in Port Harcourt.
The IYC president who spoke to journalists said this is surprised to him, and thank God for this golden opportunity by singled him out for the awards.
In his response while receiving the award, Oweilaemi thanked the organisers for deeming him fit for this wonderful recognition and assured them that Ijaw’s will continue to agitate and clamour against injustice, insecurity, environmental challenges and marginalisation for the betterment of the ljaw nation and the Niger Delta.
He further stated that all though he has not done enough to deserve this award, adequate programmes are underway to ameliorate the yearnings of the Ijaw’s and Niger Deltans.
Therefore Oweilaemi also used the opportunity to appreciate the cooperation of Ijaw’s and other ethnic groups in Nigeria in the campaign against the proposed setup of Ruga settlement in every state of the federation and hailed the Presidency for heeding to the public outcry that lead to the suspension of such unpopular plan.
He however, expressed optimism that his administration will continue work for the unity of Ijaw nation, he stated
