Egbema Youth Council Decries Lopsided Appointments Of Gov Okowa

…Urge the Governor to appoint Egbema indigenes to the State Executive Council and other Government agencies

Warri: The President of Egbema Youth Council (EYC), Comrade Bright Maya has kick against the recent appointments made by the Governor of Delta state Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa , noting that the appointment of the governor is biased with a complete exclusion of the entire Egbema Kingdom from the list.

According to Comrade Maya, Egbema Kingdom is wholly a PDP kingdom, and we loyally worked and massively voted for all the PDP candidates including the Governor His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa in the last general elections.

He said, it will interest you to know that the Warri North Local Government which is exclusively inhabited by the ljaws of Egbema and Itsekiris has ten (10) Federal wards, the Egbema Ijaws host four (4) wards while the Itsekiris host six (6) wards. but yet the Egbema Ijaws have never been given the opportunity to occupy any of the principal offices due to the Local Government Area either elective or appointment.

State Revenue

Egbema Kingdom produces 19% of the oil and gas production making Egbema the third highest oil & gas producer in the Ijaw DESOPADEC coverage areas, yet none Egbema person was considered worthy to be a part of the DESOPADEC governing board as submitted to the Delta State House of Assembly by the Governor.

This is undoubtedly a day light robbery, a clear display of continued denial, neglect, marginalization and against the principles of inclusive, equity and fairness.

Speaking further, he said Egbema Ijaws will not lie low with this denial, neglect and marginalization this time around if our economic and political contributions means nothing to the Governor and his PDP led State Government, then as a people we have no choice but to have a rethink, “he said.
