Warri: The President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Barr. Pereotubo Oweilaemi, has said that in 2023 governorship election in Delta State any party that gives his governorship ticket to ljaw man that’s the only party ljaw Nation will support noting that ljaw deserves the governor of Delta state in 2023.

According to Oweilaemie, we the ljaws in Delta state are the deciding factor in any governorship election in the state from 1999 till date, so by extension we the ljaws are the Kingmakers in the politics of Delta state. We have being supporting  other ethnic Nationalists in the state to become governor of our dear state from 1999 till date, so we are appealing to our brothers and sisters of other ethnic Nationalist’s in the state to support an ljaw man to become the governor of our dear state in the 2023 governorship election for the sake equity and justice. “The IYC boss urged those Ijaw politicians that interested for the governor position in 2023 to indicate interest now and warm up warning that time is not waiting for anybody, stressing that the earlier the better. And I believe that any serious party that wants to win the governorship election in Delta state in 2023 will give his governorship ticket to an ljaw man, most especially the ruling party in the state. This is because we the ljaws have always support and vote for the party in all the elections from 1999 till date unlike others. We (ljaws) have always stands and vote for the ruling party in the state for all the elections, so we expect the party to reciprocate it by giving their party governorship ticket to an ljaw man in the 2023 governorship election, ” he said.

When asked if the ruling party in the state fails to give his governorship ticket to an ljaw man in 2023 governorship election, the IYC boss said, well if the ruling party in the state denied us (ljaw) their governorship ticket then we know the party is not serious in winning the governorship election and other elections in the ljaw areas, so when we get to that bridge by God grace in 2023 we will cross it because the 2023 ljaw governorship project is not non-negotiable, “he noted

Speaking further, the IYC President, Barr. Oweilaemi, said no political party will sail through in 2023 governorship election if it fails to produce its governorship candidate from the Ijaw ethnic Nationality in the oil rich Delta state.

“He further said the issue of zoning which has been the strength of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since 1999 has come to an end in 2023, insisting that from 2023, the singsong in Delta will be ethnic Nationality and not the zoning system which has been operational over the years. This is because the Central which is the Urhobos has produced two Executive Governors in Delta state. Even the Itsekiri’s, eight years in the person of Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, now Anioma man will complete his eight years in 2023, so l believe for the sake of equity and justice and in the spirit of One Delta, it is the turn of Delta Ijaw to produce the next Governor after Anioma government, ” he stressed.

According the IYC President, the 2023 ljaw Governorship Project is for equity and justice and for the spirit of One Delta as brothers and sisters, so am appealing to our brothers and sisters of other ethnic Nationalist to support an ljaw man to become the next Governor of our dear state in 2023 governorship election for the sake of equity and justice.
