COVID-19 Pandemic Lockdown: Chief Gbagi Doles Out Cash, Distributes Food Items To Deltans, Nothing Gives Me Joy Than Putting Smiles To Peoples Faces
As the COVID-19 sweeps across the globe in astronomical proportions, the urgent need for governments, corporate and private individuals around the world to put measure in place to cushion the effects of the austerity confronting the world, including but not limited to food and medical/health care, has become increasingly necessary.
In Delta State, Nigeria, Olorogun Gbagi, in his deeply rooted culture of philanthropy and goodwill, has once again demonstrated that, at all times, the welfare and well-being of the people are fundamental and non-negotiable.
Thus, Olorogun Gbagi being the true reference point and benchmark for the underlying essence of philanthropy, as usual, once again taken it upon himself to provide palliatives to the good people of Delta State in the light of the global COVID-19 pandemic.
As a seasoned administrator and philanthropist, Olorogun Gbagi understands that the welfare of Nigerians and more particularly, Deltans is the ultimate goal of the State Government. However, whilst the government is doing all within a constitutionally defined orbit, such duties as citizens’ welfare must not be left solely at the hands of the government.
Armed with this consciousness and his usual tradition of giving selflessly, Olorogun Gbagi through the Gbagi Foundation has commenced the first phase of a statewide distribution of over 100 bags of rice, 300 bags of garri, 150 cartons of Indomie Noodles and cash to Deltans. The exercise which saw beneficiaries thronging out enmasse, kicked off at Oginibu, the immediate community of the former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Other places visited by Gbagi’s Foundation are: Ororokpe, Sapele and Jesse.
Interestingly, and in compliance with the World Health Organization’s recommendations on Social Distancing, the coordinators of this exercise ensured the observance of all rules of engagement required for the containment of the pandemic.
In a brief interview with the former Minister for Education and Chairman of Gbagi Foundation, Olorogun Gbagi, the philanthropist noted that nothing better describes the joy and satisfaction he feels whenever he finds himself in the position to give unconditionally and to put smiles on the faces and succour to the heart of people.
He further assured Deltans that with the grace of God, and the ingenuity that God has reposed in mankind, the pandemic, like the ones before it, shall soon be a thing of the past. More so, the industrialist admonished Deltans to be strong, hopeful and forthcoming with their cooperation with Federal and State Governments in their efforts towards combating the pandemic.
