Appointments Of NDDC Interim Management Committee: Akpabio Action Is Justifiable, Security Agencies Should Note Of Those Issuing Threat Messages —- Izanzan Camp

…Treat those issuing threat messages as common criminals because they enemies of peace in the Niger Delta

As a Niger Delta Based right group that has been in the forefront of confronting the deliberate denied of Delta Ijaw and Bayelsa State of their right and breached of the NDDC act, we completely disagree and distance ourselves from those calling for the sack of Senator Godswill Akpabio for constituting interim board in NDDC as his; Senator Akpabio decision following the presidential approval is justifiable.

It’s an established fact that, the new substantive board that has been screened but yet to inaugurated is formed on a misplaced priority; the interest of Delta Ijaw and Bayelsa is completely undermined, the Ijaws are denied of their right therefore it must not be inaugurated and above all presidency must wait until all legal cases are cleared.

Those that are not abreast with activities of the NDDC should understand that the interim is our best interest, it will help us continuously engage the president of the country with more factual reasons why the already screened substantive board must be review by following the stipulated provisions of the NDDC act. Following the act that governs the NDDC Board, the substantive MD ought to be from Bayelsa State while the Chairman from Delta. So why the breached of the act?.

We are by this press statement categorically stating that whoever that is coming out to condemn the decision of presidency and Senator Akpabio Decision knowing fully well that the Ijaw Nation has been robbed, is doing it for his or her selfish interest therefore we call on the Presidency to ignore but the security agencies must take note of those that are issuing threat messages to inflict security challenges in the volatile Niger Delta Region.

If we may ask those that is calling for the immediate inauguration of the board, are they againsting the interim board for the general Interest of the region?, If yes! where were they when the Delta Ijaw and Bayelsa State is denied of their right in the substantive board? are they comfortable that Delta and Bayelsa State is denied of their respective rights? But why the sudden ranting?. Well posterity will indeed judge everybody actions and inactions.

If we can recalled, even when our kinsman, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was the President he carefully followed the provisions of the act to balance ethnicity interest and that was one of the primary reason that Itsekiri man was appointed into the board followed by Urhobo man after the expiration of the Itsekiri man while Ijaw ought to be next (which is now).

Undermining the collective sensibilities and interest of Delta Ijaw and Bayelsa State is another style of undemocratic actions against Ijaw Nation therefore we call on the Minister of Niger Delta, Senator Godswill Akpabio to use his power within his reach to correct this anomaly in another form of injustice against the Ijaw Nation.

In spite of the fact that, we are standing with the interim board, we are highly expecting the members of the board to be very transparent while waiting for the final report of the forensic audit.
