2023: Why Nigerian Youth Will Vote Atiku/Okowa Ticket – CMPG

…Congratulates Okowa, Oborevwori Over National Honour And Appeal Court Victory

Asaba: Coalition for Media Politics and Governance, CMPG, has predicted that despite the anger of Nigerian youth against the misrule of the All Progressives Congress, APC, under President Mohammadu Buhari, they will vote enmass for the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, in 2023.

The group’s assertion was contained in a communique issued at the end of her October 2022 monthly meeting on Wednesday in Asaba, the state capital, signed by the Chairman, Olorogun Barr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe and State Organising Secretary, Hon Fidelis Chimokwu.

CMPG noted that the ongoing youth movement for one of the Presidential candidate was triggered by the overbearing hardship, acute poverty, ASUU-FG unresolved crisis as well as the glaring misrule of APC national government wherein the Buhari administration practically and deliberately deployed nepotism and ethnic political considerations to fracture the robust unity enjoyed in the country before APC deceptive politics of “Change” which brought Buhari to power in 2015 and 2019.

The group disclosed that critical background examination of all the Presidential candidates and their running mates revealed that Okowa and Atiku is obviously the best combination, judging from their positive contributions to nation building, visionary leadership and commitment to the Nigeria Project, as well as their individual enviable capacity and competence, adding that the Labour Party candidate, Mr. Peter obi, shall be abandoned by the youth for obvious reasons and mobilize for Atiku.

CMPG further asserted that Obi as governor of Anambra State deposited the state money in several banks which the financial institutions gave out as loans with high interest rates to companies, and made huge profits for the banks shareholders while the state was totally neglected in terms of infrastructure and socioeconomic development, adding that such huge sums of money could have been used to development the state, create wealth and jobs for citizens of Anambra, especially the youth.

The group posited that Nigerian Youth will soon begin to dig deep into the background and achievements of the Presidential candidates and their running mates, evaluate their achievements in public service, adding that Atiku and Okowa stand tall above other candidates.

“CMPG is urging Nigerian youth to shine their eyes because all that glitters is no gold. Obi performed abysmally as governor. He could not tackle infrastructure and economic development, he did jot create jobs and failed woefully to deliver on his electioneering promises in the areas aforementioned.

“2023 presidential election will spring surprises because Nigerian youth shall mobilize and vote Atiku-Okowa. The obidient movement you see today shall fade away before rhe end of December 2023.

“CMPG is sure that very soon those behind the Obidient movement shall take a bow and team up with PDP to rescue Nigeria from rhe misrule of APC national government under President Buhari.

“Nigeria came out of rhe Paris Club debt but APC and Buhari plunged the nation into another unwarranted monumental and ridiculous foreign and local debts profile; emptied our excess crude oil account and foreign reserve.

“The result of APC Change mantra is acute poverty, insecurity, reckless mismanagement of the nation’s financial and mineral resource, joblessness, high inflation rate, et al. So, the youth are very angry because of excruciating pains and agonies brought upon them by APC bad governance under Buhari.

“The good news is that Atiku and Okowa has the capacity, competence and political willpower to take the Nation on the path of economic recovery, growth and sustainable development. As PDP and Atiku dwells on the manifesto titled ‘My Covenant With Nigerians’ at the campaigns, our youth shall make automatic u-turn and vote Atiku-Okowa.

“We congratulates governor Okowa for the national honours Award of Commander of the Order, CON, by Mr President, and we are confident that he shall be upgraded to the enviable status of the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger, GCON, as Vice President of Nigeria in 2023.

“CMPG also rejoice with Delta PDP governorship candidate, Rt Hon Oborevwori Sheriff Francis Orohwedor, over his superlative victory at the Court of Appeal on Wednesday. The judgment is a strong message to unpopular and unscrupulous aspirants that it is no longer business as usual, because the Judiciary is bent on sanitizing the system and deepen our democracy through sound judgments.

“CMPG stood firm with our Principal, Oborevwori before, during and after the governorship primary and the challenges, because of his positive strength of character, capacity, competence, awesome popularity and inestimable humility.

“We urge his supporters, party faithfuls and Deltans to remain Sheriffied, and to expect more development and good governance that would advance Delta from 2023-2031,” CMPG assured.
