Few weeks after President Yar’Adua and vice president Dr. Goodluck Jonathan resumed office, the mother of late Yar’Adua led a delegation of Fulani women to Otta in Ogun State to thank former president Obasanjo for allowing God to use him to make Yar’Adua (Fulani) president of Nigeria. NTA news and other media outfits aired the news. To me, this a direct challenge to Ijaw people who also produce the vice president through Obasanjo’s effort at that time.

So I summoned an emergency meeting of Ijaw mothers in my Lagos office and said to them “You all watched NTA news where Fulani women led by President Yar’Adua mothers went to Otta to thank Obasanjo for the victory of her son (Yar’Adua). Again, let me remind you my sisters, the mother of Yar’Adua is the only woman in Nigerian history to produced two sons as vice presidents. One was in a military era called chief of staff at the supreme headquarters and the other son president in a civilian era.

Yet she humbled herself to go to Otta to show gratitude to Obasanjo. I am sending you to Otta to do the same thing on behalf of Ijaw people. We don’t need Jonathan’s mother to do it. We are here in Lagos and Otta is less than 3hours drive from Lagos. Time is running out for this strategic assignment. If we don’t go, it is a monumental blunder and future generation of politicians in Nigeria will use it against Ijaw children in any presidential contest when our generation is no more in this world (that we are am ungrateful tribe).

Let me tell you people one secret why Ijaw people are suppose to do this “thank you visit” to Obasanjo first before the Fulanis. At the meeting hosted by former Chairman of All States Trust Bank, Chief Ebitimi Banigo at his Lagos residence where WHO IS WHO in South-South (Niger Delta) such as former military governors, ministers, former Ambassadors, captains of industries, retired generals, business gurus, professors etc gathered including former President Goodluck Jonathan and I was appointed Cordinator-General of the first rally of the Yar’Adua/GoodluckJonathan campaign at the race course. The then vice president Goodluck Jonathan explained to us how Obasanjo encouraged him to contest with Yar’Adua. Infact, Goodluck Jonathan told the leaders what shocked everyone that he tried to plead with former president Obasanjo to leave him alone as Governor of Bayelsa State but Obasanjo refused, so now he is ready for the election as vice presidential candidate, so he wants his people the South-South to mobilize and proof to the world that we are ready for the job, which all leaders present agreed that Comrade Joseph Evah with his structures on ground as an activist can mobilize over 100,000 people to take over the Race-course for the presidential campaign flag-off in Lagos and it happened.

After listening to my voice of reasoning, the mothers of Ijaw land led by a retired senior police officer Mrs Sedenu went to Otta to thank Obasanjo on behalf of Ijaw Nation for allowing God to use him for Goodluck Jonathan’s victory.

The then vice president Goodluck Jonathan was told about the carnival like visit by Obasanjo himself in Abuja and the then VP directed me to organise the women to meet him in Lagos and it happened.
