…..Directs Food Hygiene Compliance Team To Clamp Down On Non Complaint Food Vendors Across The State
The Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Delta state Hon. Jamani Tommy Ejiro has stepped up preventive measures against the spread of Lassa fever and Cholera amidst outbreak in Delta state.
“The Honourable commissioner for environment has directed the Food Hygiene compliance team to clamp down on Erring Hotels, restaurants and food vendors who engages in unhygienic practices and operates without compliance to basic measures such as medical certificate of fitness for food handlers, Fumigation certificates, certificate of continuous habitation, Implementation of HACCPs plan, proper waste management practices, untidy storage facilities and indiscriminate discharge of waste water into public drain.
“The Commissioner further directed that any food production facility that fails to meet minimum environmental health requirement for operation should be sealed and operators should be prosecuted in line with the relevant laws and regulations on food hygiene.
“The Commissioner who gave the directive during the state monthly Environmental Sanitation exercise maintains that the Administration of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will not tolerate those who’s actions jeopardizes the health and wellbeing of residents.
He however gave a matching order for the Food Hygiene Compliance Team to return to field on Monday and ensure that Compliance is 100%.
