Delta 2027: Genuine Reconciliation That’s What We Need To Win Election Not Smearing Of Party Leaders – APC Group

…Urges Party Leaders And Stakeholders To Learn From Their Counterparts In Edo State, Who Secured Victory In The Recent Gubernatorial Election Through Unity And Dedication

Delta Youth In Politics, a political pressure group of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has declared that what the party needs now is genuine reconciliation, not the smearing of one leader by another.

The group release a press statement through their National Coordinator, Comrade Samuel Obadasere and Publicity Secretary, Elder Ikem Desmond

“The group noted that it was prompted to respond to an unwarranted statement allegedly made by a former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and APC member, Rt. Hon. Dr. Olisa Imegwu, at the recent public hearing of the Secretariat Subcommittee of the Olorogun O’tega Emerhor-led Reconciliation Committee for Delta North, held at the Maryam Babangida Center in Asaba. In this statement, Dr. Imegwu accused the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Hon. Festus Keyamo, SAN, of being one of the reasons the party lost the governorship election in 2023.

According to the group, an online publication by Niger Delta Today quoted Dr. Imegwu as stating that Hon. Keyamo’s lack of interaction with the grassroots contributed to the party’s defeat in the gubernatorial election, even as he seeks to be considered a leader of the party in the state.

“The group emphasized that, ordinarily, it would have overlooked such an unguarded statement; however, considering the forum and timing of the remarks, they felt it necessary to set the record straight.

“They acknowledged that without genuine reconciliation, the APC in Delta State would struggle to achieve victory in future elections. However, it is regrettable that a platform created by committed members should be used to smear others.

Moving forward, the group asserted that the Honourable Minister of Aviation and other party leaders openly endorsed and supported the reconciliation initiative when it was presented because they believed it was in the party’s best interest.

While the group is pleased that the reconciliation process is ongoing and hopeful it will yield positive outcomes for the party, they wish to express their dissatisfaction with Dr. Imegwu’s statement.

“The significant contributions and sacrifices made by Hon. Keyamo to ensure the party’s success at both federal and state levels during the last general election are evident to all.

Since the election, his commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been yielding positive results. His relationships with party leaders and members across the state are cordial, and his support for the party’s growth and development is consistently provided when needed. All these efforts are aimed at ensuring victory for the party in future elections; thus, it is misguided to make such statements against him.

“Pointing fingers at the minister can best be described as an attempt to smear leaders with the aim of further undermining the party.

“The group urges party faithful to refrain from making statements of this nature in the future if they genuinely care about the party’s interests.

Such statements only serve to create division among leaders and stakeholders, making reconciliation and future electoral victories increasingly unattainable.

As a group, we implore all party leaders and stakeholders to learn from their counterparts in Edo State, who secured victory in the recent gubernatorial election through unity and dedication.
