…Call On Stakeholders To Work Collectively For The Development Of Niger Delta
On behalf of the National Executive of the Niger Delta Progressive Women Worldwide, I extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to our compatriots across the Niger Delta Region and Nigerians as we step into the New Year 2025.
Looking back at 2024, we reflect on a year marked by “Notable Achievements”, despite some challenging circumstances confronting our dear region.
This challenges include – unemployment, inhumane standard of living, lack of Basic Amenities.
There is a relationship between commitment to Social Welfare and Mobilization. Social Mobilization is a function of the feelings from Citizens that they have stake on social cooperation. If a society strive to meet the basic needs of all citizens, then it is likely to Win their loyalty.
We should bear in mind that social Mobilization is a necessary element or condition for realizing sustainable development.
For we the Niger Delta Progressive Women, development is not a Project, but a process by which citizens create and recreate themselves and face Daily Challenges and Circumstances to realize higher standards in accordance with their own choices and value.
We especially commend the commitment and leadership provided by our political leaders in the region. Their collective unwavering Dedication to Fostering Socio-Economic and Infrastructural Development is commendable.
Also worthy of commendation is the Management team of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) ably led by Dr. (Chief) Ongbuku Samuel with the Operation Light-up Niger Delta Project, Agricultural Development, and Inclusivity by engaging critical stakeholders in its projects and programs execution and implementation.
According to the National Coordinator of Niger Delta Progressive Women Worldwide, Comrade Miebi Andakuro, as we look ahead to the new year 2025 is a year for prospects and opportunities for greater peace and security for Socio-Economic Development and political stability. Though it’s important for we as a region should keep the oars high, because in spite of the successes, there remains much work to be done to gear up the living standards of our people.
We wish to use this medium to call to action to all stakeholders and development partners to have a unity of purpose, collaborative engagement/synergy towards the Socio-Economic Development, Prosperity and Self Reliance of the NigerDelta. The time for the Niger Delta is now – we can, we must and we will.
Niger Delta Progressive Women Worldwide determine to break the jinx of underdevelopment. Top on our Agenda is to work tirelessly with all stakeholders to elevate the living standards of our people, especially those in rural communities, who mostly bear the burnt of environmental challenges due to climate change and Petroleum Exploration in the Niger Delta.
A region rich in Natural Resources, Human, and Fertile Land for Agricultural Development, yet home to the poorest people. We are calling on our leaders to address these internal challenges while leveraging on our unique strengths. We must look inward to improve inter and intra ethnic trade and collaborations to the benefits of our People.
The Niger Delta must embrace Agriculture – if you don’t fight your fight, nobody will fight for you. We call on our leaders, policymakers and private sector to rise above decisions and entrench a shared vision for a stable, united and prosperous Niger Delta.
Speaking further, “The vibrant national coordinator said, “It’s the collaborative efforts of our people, leaders, elders, youth and women that we achieved the increase in Oil and Gas Production.
We are calling on our amiable President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that the Niger Delta gets a commiserate development in our standard of living and infrastructure.
