Bomadi – The leadership of Akugbene Community in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, has lauded the executive chairman of council, Hon. Rawlings Dagidi Andaye, over his administration’s determination to embark on both infrastructural and human capital development at the grassroots.

The Community leaders made the commendation during a visit to the council chairman in his office at Bomadi, headquarters of the council area.

“The Community entourage which comprised members of the Community Executive Council and high Chiefs of the Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, also appealed for inclusion of their Community in the scheme of developmental activities.

“The Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori on Political Matters, Hon. Flemming Carter, speaking for the Community delegation, said the people of Akugbene Community were happy with Hon. Andaye’s development efforts in the council area and commended him for his laudable decision.

He said: “We, the people of Akugbene Community, thank you for coming to develop Bomadi Local Government Area. We also thank you for your quick intervention in the Okuama/Okoloba inter-comunal dispute and arresting the situation.

“As nextdoor neighbour of these Communities, we sincerely thank you for your peace effort. We also thank you for appointing our sons into political offices in your administration.

“You are the father in the local government area and we appeal to our father to include Akugbene in your scheme of development activities”.

“However, the delegation also presented some pressing needs of their community to the council chairman, which included building of a befitting permanent site for the Nursery School in the Community and urgent measures to remedy the effect of the current flood situation in Akugbene Community.

Others include reactivation of the Bomadi Local Government Council’s Sub-Secretariat situated at Akugbene and construction of wooden bridges across two canals in the Community.

Hon. Andaye, in his response thanked the Community delegation for their visit, stressing his earlier decision to tour Communities in the council area on assumption of office remained standing, which is aimed at gathering firsthand information about state of Communities in the council area.

“First and foremost, thank you for your visit, you have made our work very easy for coming to council.

“The essence of council’s planned decision to tour Communities is to get firsthand information about Communities and ensure peace and harmony in the Local Government Area, as well as to thank the people for giving me their mandate.

“I commend the Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, HRM Pere Kalanama Viii, for his efforts made towards the current peace between Okuama and Okoloba Communities.

“As for your presentation and requests, they are all doable and council will do them one by one.

“I want to assure you that as soon as we are done with the ongoing projects in Bomadi, the Local Government Headquarters, Akugbene will be one of the first Communities to receive the impact of the administration.

“We will send a delegation to Akugbene tomorrow to assess the flood situation and will take the necessary action. The directive from above is that all ongoing projects be put on hold and focus on the flood situation”, he said.

He however, tasked all council Supervisors to brief him of the flood situation in their various areas of representation.
